This exquisite, amazing D-45 was hand-crafted in 1983, celebrating Martin's 150th Anniversary! Marty co-designed this extraordinary instrument along with Mike Longworth, renowned Martin craftsman and historian. Master grade East Indian Rosewood and Old Growth Sitka Spruce make this guitar explode the full range of tones, from basses to trebles, as well as the in-between mid-ranges! This magnificent treasure has been Marty's personal "baby" over the years1 She has been vigilant in maintaining proper humidity and temperature throughout the past decades, and so the guitar is in very good condition. Playability was an important key to Marty's love for this instrument, and the very slim Custom Low Profile neck satisfied her beyond any expectation! This gorgeous Tree of Life inlay was meticulously inlaid piece by piece by hand, by Martin Guitar's most skilled Pearl inlay artisan. The Tree of Life is a symbol of positive energy, good health, and a bright future. It is a perfect inlay for this D-45, since it represents prosperity, growth, and strength! The peerless David Crosby is well-known for the unabashed love of his D45 Martin. But few realize that David also revels in playing his Custom Brazilian J200, made for him by Ren Ferguson in Gibson Montana's Custom Shop. " Guitars inspire me...it's good to be thrilled with your ax...so I use the use the best ones that I have." He asked Gibson to build a special J200 for him, using Brazilian Rosewood. "It's ridiculously beautiful...a real stunner. Jackson Browne wants it, and I won't give it to him!"
Here is another stunning Custom Shop Gibson J200 Brazilian Rosewood/German Spruce beauty!! Ren had called us during Gibson's 100th Anniversary Celebration, and graciously offered to build us "something special!" Marty, never at a loss for her desire to own Brazilian Rosewood instruments, immediately suggested that Ren undertake to build this spectacular J200. He even included a Custom Rose-engraved pick guard--the exact twin to one he had made for Emmy Lou Harris. Marty also "begged" Ren to inlay the Ebony fingerboard position markers and the Super Jumbo mustache bridge with highly-colorful Abalone Pearl, and match it with additional Abalone inlay around the German Spruce top. This guitar is a once- in- 100 year- event! Price: $34998!
The M-45 CP model is only available in Lakewood's Custom Shop. (Here is a link to Lakewood's M-45 CP Spec Page)
A fabulous Premium Series Lakewood model, this incredible Ziricote wood is so difficult to find that Martin Seeliger is only offering his M-45 now as a Custom Shop model! The best European Alpine Spruce, graded AAAA by Lakewood, accompanies the rare, elegant Ziricote. Tonally similar to Brazilian in its lush lows, the magical Lakewood bracing also adds pristine and sparkling mids and trebles to the mix, for a thrilling musical anthology of thematic resonance! We had our M-45 Custom-made with a 1 3/4" nut (44mm)--the standard Lakewood M nut width is usually 1.81" (46mm).
The Lakewood Sonic System (YouTube Sound Clip!) a result of the co-operation of Lakewood Guitars and Shadow Electronics, works as dual system with two pickups. The "Nanoflex", developed by Shadow, picks up the sound of the strings at the bridge saddle. A second pickup the "Nanomag", is a magnetic pickup--hidden inside the guitar--and specialized to transfer a soft sound with round basses. Overall, this pickup has a good resistance against feedback when playing at high volume levels.

Martin's 24.9"Short Scale length was chosen for ease of playing, along with having a full 14 frets clear of the body. Here is Martin's brilliant addition to an already fabulous Dreadnought guitar line. This model was created in the mid-1960s, when Brazilian Rosewood was becoming scarce and trees were becoming smaller and smaller due to overharvesting in Brazil. But Martin's brilliant luthiers, instead of not using this wonderful tonewood because the trees were producing boards too small for two-piece backs, were able to join three small planed boards together to make a wonderful-sounding back, along with the sides and tops. The idea was popularly accepted, and folks insisted the three--piece back helped make the Martin bass response deeper and richer. There were other opinions, where folks thought that the three-piece backs gave more voice to the treble tones. Today, the HD 35 has evolved into a fine guitar in its own right, having 1/4" bracing, instead of the HD-28 5/16" brace. Many players believe this is an excellent Dreadnought Martin to use for either flatpicking or fingerpicking, because of its balance of tone in both the bass and treble sounds! This precious jewel of a guitar is Jean Larrivee's centuries-lasting imprint upon the world of guitar luthery! The Old-Growth, Pre-CITES Brazilian Rosewood on this 00 guitar--personally made by Jean Larrivee himself, using his private, personal stock of precious woods! Combined with the very tight-grained German Alpine Spruce, this 00 Larrivee guitar has a full, rich, and quite powerful voice! You expected it to be articulate in its tonal qualities, because of the signature Larrivee symmetrical "X" bracing--which is high, narrow, and tapered, as well as forward-shifted toward the sound hole. But you are "blown away" by the pure, rich power you get when you play it! Only a hand-fitted, dove-tail-joined instrument can boast of tone qualities like this! The fingerboard elegantly presents Larrivee's Custom Torch fingerboard inlays, which are painstakingly hand-scrimshawed! The neck join, 12 frets to the body, is married to a 25.5" scale length, providing additional volumes of sound--because of the Standard scale vibrations on a smaller instrument. This guitar sounds marvelous when fingerpicked, and it loses nothing in responding to spirited flatpicking! This guitar needs little coaxing or finesse to stream out those lilting, finely-crafted melodies, as its strings are caressed! And, take a look at the craftsmanship in the pictures! You immediately know that no robot assembled this treasure, and you will view only the very fine, rare Brazilian Rosewood and German Alpine Spruce woods Jean consistently used to build this masterpiece! Ease and comfort of play are enhanced with the 1 3/4" nut! To draw your eye to this guitar, the exquisite and so very artistic crafting of a colorful, Abalone Pearl-inlaid, and hand-engraved, Angel by Wendy Larrivee--Jean's wife--thrills your artistic sensibilities! In addition, the gorgeous Abalone which Jean meticulously inlaid around the top, the fingerboard, and the Rosette stunningly proclaim this guitar as a once and always heirloom instrument you will treasure forever!

This wonderful little Martin treasure has been in Marty's personal collection for over 35 years! At the time when she was lucky enough to first acquire this special guitar, she headed over to Nazareth to have the great Mike Longworth, long-time noted Martin historian and luthier, look it over. Mike said that the serial number 55899, which was from 1934, although he said this guitar has some features from 1935 and 1936. Although there is a bolt inside at the neck block, Mike said it should be left alone, using the wise old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", since the neck angle is excellent. And so from that visit in 1983 up to the present, the neck has continued to remain very stable and is still very comfortable to play! This sweet old gal definitely wears the "garb" of an adventurous guitar that has been played often and enjoyed always! Everyone there at Martin was very impressed by its powerful, rich, sweet, and resonant voice. They also set it up to be very ,very playable!! Wildwood's Price: Priceless!

The outright ascetic beauty of this Walnut wood is breathtaking enough; but when you couple Nature's imagery in this F-23 with George Lowden's magical luthier skills, the resulting sound is awe-inspiring! George's "dolphin-braced" guitar, in the "F" size (Auditorium equivalent), pours out such pristine and resonant sound vibrations, you cannot believe your own ears how beautiful the tones are! You will not pick this instrument up and play it, without drastically changing your concept of how a superbly-crafted guitar should sound!
Retail Price: $4640 — Wildwood's Price: $3598!
George Lowden sought to create a smaller body, yet achieve a much broader tonality than that found in other competing makers' guitars of this size. He chose East Indian Rosewood for the Back and Sides, and North American Cedar for the top. Rich, clear, and precisely full tones will thrill you, as will the comfort in playing the short scale of this instrument!

The beautiful Cocabola (today often spelled Cocobolo) Rosewood used on the back and sides of this special Martin guitar was found in the Amazon jungle of Brazil! The top is made with Old-Growth Sitka Spruce which came from a tree that was probably close to 1000 years old! Hand-Scalloped top braces really bring out the power and resonance. The neck is a very comfortable low profile carve. This guitar was hand-crafted in 1987 (serial number 474785). It had one loving owner for a very short time and has since resided here at Wildwood Music in Museum-quality humidity and temperature controls. This guitar told us that it has been lonely for too long and would love to find a new owner who will cherish it for many years to come.

Those of us who have been Blessed to live in the United States of America have always cherished our Freedom! Our America’s revolutionary beginnings were a very fortunate bundle of so many extraordinary events, and all are tied to the Liberty Tree! Each of the 13 colonies selected a fine old tree to represent their Liberty Tree. Under these trees, the colonists gathered to protest taxation without representation and hold public meetings. The colonists also started formulating a game plan to break from British Rule.
In 2002, Bob Taylor reclaimed the last living Liberty Tree—a still-beautiful 425-year-old Tulip Poplar that finally succumbed to Hurricane Floyd on Annapolis, Maryland’s campus of St. John’s College—and made it into some 400 fine, high-end acoustic, Grand Concert guitars. This particular Tulip Poplar tree in Maryland was one of 13 trees where our country's illustrious founders would brazenly meet—under threat of death—to decide the fate of the future United States of America. Our beloved nation’s founders risked their lives and those of their family members and friends, to agree to unite in opposition to the tyrannical King George III of England! The Americans began the war with significant disadvantages. compared to the British. We had no national government, no national army, no financial system, no banks, no established credit, no functioning government departments. Motivation was our main asset. People wanted to win, they wanted freedom. 200,000 Americans fought. between 25,000 and 75,000 died. Proportionately more died in the Revolutionary War than in the Civil War!
Now, you can share in this intimate memorial of America’s precious democracy each time you play the Taylor Liberty Tree guitar! You are reminded of our Unanimous Declaration of Independence by the artful inlay of its scroll on the guitar fingerboard. The Thirteen-Star “Betsy Ross” flag is beautifully reprised on the headstock, and laid upon an Ebony bed—which is adorned with Lush Gold Grover Tuning Machines. Thirteen Stars—representing the original Colonies—circle the sound hole. The top is inlaid with beautiful Abalone Pearl trim, and inside the sound hole is displayed a special label signed by Bob Taylor.
Perhaps, in touching the wood of one of America’s sacred Liberty Trees, you can intimately experience the passion and the resolute determination of our tenacious forebears! Bob Taylor said: “The Liberty Tree Guitar’s materials alone make it the MOSTSIGNIFICANTINSTRUMENT we have ever created!”

Julius Heinrich Zimmerman (1851-1923) was well-regarded in Europe as a maker and designer of musical instruments and seller of music scores and music methods books. This Parlor guitar was purchased at the newly-opened London store around 1897! Since Zimmerman was widely associated with musicians, his fine guitars gained immediate acceptance.
This guitar was made with Brazilian Rosewood and German Spruce, and is strung with classical guitar strings. It has a slotted headstock, and the neck is solid Mahogany. Its open, three-on-a -plate, engraved tuning machines are original, with Ivory buttons. The fingerboard is cantilevered, in the style of earlier 19th Century Stauffer instruments, and also has an adjustable neck, accessed using a key inserted outside--at the guitar's heel. Zimmerman guitars were known for their elaborate and intricate soundhole rosette inlays, and our Zimmerman is no exception. There is an intricate Leaf and Flower design, with scrimshawed leaves and petals, all inlaid in Pearl. Two concentric wood "rope" designs form the inner and outer border around the Pearl, and another, larger "rope" inlay, using wood pieces, are around the top of the guitar, inside the top Maple binding. The fingerboard and "mustache" bridge are made with Ebony. There are repaired cracks in the Brazilian Rosewood back, as is expected on fine instruments of this age--sort of like us-- HaHa! Marty has owned this Zimmerman treasure for over 35 years, and the expertly-repaired fissures have remained stable during all those years, and to the present time! Marty hopes someone who chooses this rare and special guitar will love and cherish it as much as she has!

Kay Kraft Style C Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar, made by the Kay Company and Stromberg-Voisinet Company, around 1930, in Chicago. Natural lacquer finish, Rosewood back and sides, Spruce top; Mahogany neck with Ebonized Maple fingerboard. A nice example of the top model in the early Kay Kraft line of "Venetian" bodied, round-hole archtops. This guitar has a beautifully grained Rosewood body along with fancy appointments and topped Kay's 3-guitar "KayKraft" line, with an original list price of $45.00. The natural Spruce top has very cool checkerboard binding over two inner layers; the back, fingerboard and soundhole rim are similarly appointed. The adjustable neck is secured by a wingnut internally on the neck block, which actually works quite well for setting the action. The fingerboard has large, shaped pearl inlay, and the white pearloid headstock is adorned with a gold-painted raised "Kay Kraft" logo and edge decoration. This is a very rare guitar; most Kay Kraft archtop instruments were made of Mahogany, or Maple, back and sides instead of Rosewood. Overall length is 40 in., and 14 1/2 in. wide at lower bout, with 3 and 3/4 in. depth, measured at the side of the rim. Scale length is 25 3/4 in. The width of the nut is 1 13/16 in. This guitar is a nice example- with some wear overall; tuners are original Grover planetary machines (made right here in Ohio!), and it's elevated pickguard seems original. The original bridge is solid wood. Very good sound from this rare Depression-era gem! Overall Excellent Condition.

.What if...you found a fine, handmade guitar made with exquisite, rare woods, that played like "butter", and sounded as though you were in a concert hall when you strummed it? This Custom Larrivee was handmade by Jean Larrivee and Matthew Larrivee. They selected very rare Quilted Mahogany for the back and sides; this more dense wood enriches the already clear tones produced by this species of wood. Jean Larrivee acquired the log of Italian Alpine Spruce from Cremona, Italy. The tree from this log was growing when Stradivari and Amati were selecting their precious tonewoods for their exquisite violins there, in Cremona! The colorful art of Jean's wife, Wendy, appears in the headstock. We asked that the fingerboard remain elegantly blank, and added gorgeous Abalone Pearl around the top, and co-ordinated them with inlaid bridge wings. The fulsome, realistic, and rich-sounding pickup was invented by L.R. "Lloyd" Baggs, and combines an under-saddle strip with a high-quality microphone--and controls are just inside the sound hole! What if...the pricing for this guitar was such a bargain, you could not pass this guitar by? What if...Because

This guitar is the epitome of the Guild legacy of fine quality instrument building! Only a very few of these highly-desireable guitars were made. We had been a large-volume Guild dealer for several years, and were thrilled and honored to have these amazing guitars! Made by Guild's premier builders in the mid 1990s at Westerly, Rhode Island, this rare Limited Edition Pueblo model is more-lightly built than most of the other Guilds made in this period, and so had greater resonance and richer tones. The skill and artistry of the luthiers who built this Limited Edition is apparent in the gorgeous inlays crafted from Turquoise, South Sea Coral and Black Onyx. This guitar features Grover Imperial tuners and a AAAA "Feathered" Spruce Top. This is absolutely the finest-sounding Guild guitar we have ever had the pleasure of playing!!
This guitar has never been owned. Please call us for price and more information.
Bill Monroe is often referred to as the "Father of Bluegrass". He has had a tremendous impact on both bluegrass and country music. A fabulous performer, he always used his 1923 Gibson F5 "Lloyd Loar" on stage and off! Mr. Monroe's mandolin served as the inspiration for this Limited Edition F5. This instrument is #170 of only 200, each of which was personally hand-signed by Bill Monroe himself!
Completely Hand-Crafted, this mandolin features a tight grained Master-Grade Spruce top with gorgeous Flamed Maple back and sides! It has no pickguard because Bill Monroe didn't use one. This Gibson Monroe has incredible volume, balance, and clarity.
One of the most outstanding qualities of this instrument is the true Varnish finish! This type of finish is hand-rubbed and very labor intensive to apply. It usually takes at least one year for this finish to fully "set"! Thinner than nitrocellulose lacquer, the varnish finish is more flexible and allows the wood to resonate more. This makes the mandolin sound more "broken in" from the start. Typical of any original Lloyd Loar model, the finish on this fine instrument has very small cracks in the "Lloyd Loar" curl, and at the neck join. Even so, because the difficult-to-apply Varnish finish also creates a very special, warm tone that sounds deep--with a lot of definition, Gibson was emphatic in its resolution to use this very time-consuming, but very essential finish! The Hardshell Case that came from Gibson with this lovely mandolin is a replica of Bill's original case.
This extraordinary Bill Monroe Gibson Mandolin has never been owned, and is waiting for just the right player to cherish it for a lifetime!

Others have likened sounds produced similar to Macassar Ebony, which seems to be generally crisp and clear. The Master Grade Redwood powerfully supports the Ziricote, and pleasingly presents the clarity and resonance of an Alpine top, along with masterfully merging strings of notes which one encounters in a Cedar-topped, steel string instrument! What is readily apparent is the breathtaking beauty of this visually stunning "spider web" grain, which immediately captures your aesthetic heart! But true discovery of this perfect blending of nature and art is yet to come; and you grasp the neck and gently hold the guitar in your lap. Newly-built guitars have distinctive olfactory treasures, and you draw in the precious air, perfumed by this acoustic treasure. Now your fingers and hands explore the wondrous adventure of vibrating strings and reverberating tones, as you pluck and pick each steel string! You will really be "over the top" when you finally play this Master Custom Avalon! (Highest Quality Hiscox "Artist" Case included!)

This Maderia was the top-of-the-line of this series of guitars from Guild. This particular instrument was owned by well known local performer Max Freetage. He most likely purchased it in the mid 1970s. Max performed for many years at venues around the country. His delightful styles were varied and diverse, including Country, Traditional, Western Swing, and Americana. This guitar still plays well and has a fine sound. As was often the case with professionals of his generation, he decorated his instrument to reflect his personality. This instrument includes a newer Dean Markley ProMag Plus pick-up which has become the industry standard for many acoustic players. (This pick-up retails for $71.) Mario Maccaferri was born in 1900. He was apprenticed to guitarist and luthier Luigi Mozzani--who worked with Legnani--a legendary luthier, along with Johann Stauffer, who trained C.F. Martin. Chris Martin C.F. IV bought all the remaining Maccaferri instruments and we purchased one of these from our friends at Martin. Martin felt that this guitar represented a true innovation in the history of guitar luthiery. At heart, Mario Maccaferri set his sights on manufacturing an affordable yet playable plastic guitar. This guitar featured violin-style F-holes, and the bridge and tailpiece were similar to his original Selmer design, which Django Reinhardt made famous. Warp proof neck, perfect intonation, adjustable action. Far superior in playability to less expensive competitors of the day. Andres Segovia praised his friend Mario's guitar, Rey De La Torres, a famous Cuban guitarist, enjoyed playing it as well. So will you!!

In 1992, Martin located a billet of very rare Bolivian Morado wood. This Morado is very similar in tone to Madagascar Rosewood. The Sitka Spruce top is a very high-grade of old growth wood. They were able to make 4 Custom guitars out of this wood. Two of them were HD28s with hand-scalloped top braces, Herringbone top trim and Morado headstock overlay. This is one of those two instruments. Stamped in the neck block is : HD28P Morado with the serial number 514789. The P stands for a thin, very comfortable low-profile neck. Our friend Dick Boak, longtime member of the Martin staff in many areas and today curator of their Museum said, "This very special Martin guitar has an astoundingly lively tone, fairly jumps up when you play it, due in part to its rare wood type and to its degree of lightness. The action is appropriately delightful as well; it is an absolutely lovely, unique instrument, one that once you’ve got it you will never want to give up!"

This guitar is the finest Dana Bourgeois instrument we have ever had at Wildwood! One of the original Bourgeois dealers, we began with Dana when he first started building on his own! Dana created this awesome OMS 12-fret-joined guitar with a 25.5" scale length, to harness dreadnought power in a perfect fingerstyle body! "Balance, power, and full, piano-like sound: our richest-sounding guitar" is how Dana describes this instrument! Crafted from old-growth now-extinct Brazilian Rosewood (Dalbergia Nigra), this wood that Dana chose for the back and sides has a provenance that dates back almost 100 years! Dana was going to use Premium Adirondack for the top, but opted for rarer, aged Master Grade Engelmann (high-elevation) Alpine Spruce. Traditional Ivoroid binding adorns the body, neck and headstock. The vintage-style belly bridge is placed at the widest part of the lower bout--to very effectively drive the expertly-braced top. Extravagant Waverly tuners, recognized worldwide as the finest machines, elegantly hold the accurate pitches of each string. Beautiful fleur-de-lis inlays were selected for the fingerboard of this Custom guitar. Historically, the fleur-de-lis is said to signify perfection, light, and life! It is the perfect inlay for this guitar! Dana cut a custom 1 3/4" bone nut, and by hand formed his expertly-compensated bone saddle. He was so precise in making this instrument, that each bridge pin was hand-fashioned to fit perfectly in each string placement. He scored in each pin the appropriate amount of notches, so each pin could be returned to its rightful string! This guitar has an exquisite voice with tonal properties of an angel. Dana's Custom OMS design brings about maximum power with minimum playing effort, and affords the player a beautiful open quality to the sound!

Beautiful guitar hand-crafted by Oscar Schmidt in New Jersey. All solid woods were used...Adirondack Spruce and Genuine Mahogany. Abalone Pearl was used for the decorations. A 12-String neck and 4 Contra Bass strings complete the treasure!
The Glory of this amazing, one-of-a-kind Custom is richly reflected in the Ancient Brazilian Rosewood, which sounds like no other tone wood used in crafting fine guitars! Potent, luxurious bass notes overflow into a continuous musical river filled with sparkling trebles and powerful mid-range voices! Jean Larrivee used his last, finest set of very old-growth Brazilian in this Larrivee Jumbo model. You can tell it is from a log felled over 100 years ago, especially because of its two-piece back, which could only come from a long-gone large Brazilian log, cut before the years leading up to that wood's extinction in the 20th Century. Jean also selected his finest set of Sitka Spruce, perhaps from an Alaskan tree that began its life over 1000 years ago! Jean's reverence for this guitar top's beauty and its exquisite perfection is evident by his choice of a clear pickguard. Wendy Larrivee, Jean's wife, artistically designed and LOVINGLY hand-inlaid the TAMBOURINE LADY in the headstock! Custom Presentation bridge wing inlays, and Custom Torch fingerboard inlays--with each Torch individually hand-engraved--complete this musical instrument MASTERPIECE!

Never-been-owned Guitar with Lifetime warranty!Martin has skillfully crafted a heady combination of the finest AAA European Spruce and gorgeous East Indian Rosewood! This guitar fairly seethes with tonal beauty and power, and produces crystal clear, sparkling tones! The "M" size, aptly described as "auditorium" or "orchestra" model, fits perfectly in your lap, and the so-comfortable neck delights your chordal sensibilities! The gold Schaller tuners, the Pearl snowflakes on the fingerboard, and the Ab rosette all combine to present this as a veritable jewel of a guitar!
The Lakewood Sonic System (YouTube Sound Clip) a result of the co-operation of Lakewood Guitars and Shadow Electronics, works as dual system with two pickups.

What a glorious union of East Indian Rosewood and Italian Alpine woods this fine Auditorium-sized McIlroy guitar has become!
Dermot McIlroy, of Antrim, Northern Ireland, began building guitars in 1990, after several years plying the Carpentry trade. He worked for the then recently purchased and re-formed Lowden Guitar Company,(now known as Avalon Custom Luthiers), and his mentor was the great Japenese luthier, Micky Uchida, who was heading up the Lowden shop--he had previously been hired by George Lowden, in 1986 and stayed until the end of 1990, with the Avalon folks. (Link to a brief Uchida profile). Micky inspired his apprentice to infuse guitar building with "feeling" for the wood and the music.Dermot, now in his own shop in Antrim, has earned worldwide respect for his craft, and his guitars are loved by many guitar players fortunate enough to own his creations! We are blessed to have several of Dermot's original guitar models in stock, here at Wildwood.
Retail Price: $4204 — Wildwood's Price: $3598!
This is Dermot McIlroy's Auditorium model, smaller than his Jumbo version. Very comfortable and smooth up and down the fingerboard, with voluminous sounds that literally roll off the tone woods--with much grace and clarity! Dermot's selection of Master Grade Cocobolo and Italian Alpine woods really meld beautifully with his considerable luthery skills to produce a fine handmade heirloom instrument!
Retail Price: $6508.95 — Wildwood's Price: $4799!
We think this guitar is Don Gallagher's "Flagship" model. The finest African Mahogany is used for the back and sides, and beautiful Sitka Spruce from Alaska is used for the top. This top was individually hand-voiced for maximum response and tone. The fingerboard and bridge are made of fine, black Ebony, and bone is used for the nut and saddle. The body, neck, and headplate are bound in luscious figured Maple. The ebony fingerboard is inlaid with mother-of-pearl diamonds and squares capped off with Doc's signature—meticulously inlaid at the 12th fret. And the sound of this fabulous guitar is the stuff legends are made of—in Doc's words, this guitar "rings like a bell!"
Retail Price: $5000.00 — Wildwood's Price: $2699!
This is our final Bourgeois model. It has been our pleasure to be a dealer for Dana Bourgeois' guitars, almost from his beginnings as a guitar builder--even before the current Pantheon Company existed!
Precious Madagascar Rosewood back and sides is paired with a premium Adirondack top, for optimal sound presence. For the greatest comfort, and playability, Dana chose his famous 1 23/32" nut width! To please the eye, as well as the ear, Dana crafted Flamed Maple for the body binding, and his new Signature Herringbone for the purfling. Ivory "Squares and Diamonds" inlays grace the fingerboard. To elegantly "finish off" this marvelous instrument, Dana chose the finest gold Waverly tuners, and bone bridge and endpins.

This Rare Amazon Rosewood is VERY closely-related to the extinct Brazilian Rosewood; and availablity is quite limited! The International Treaty for the protection of Endangered Species lists this wood as EXTREMELY vulnerable. We were thrilled when Bob Taylor discovered this high quality Amazon and offered to let us use this precious wood in building a One-Of-A-Kind Custom guitar! This amazing guitar combines Taylor's Short Scale and Engraved Diamond fingerboard with a 12-fret-join and a beautiful slotted headstock! Bass response is immediate and very rich; very quickly the Grand Auditorium body releases elegant and clear mids and trebles! You may "swoon" with delight when you first play this very fine jewel of a guitar!

The prestigious National Association of Musical Merchants (NAMM) voted Boucher Guitars as the FINEST hand-crafted Boutique instruments in the World! The Boucher Family in Canada have been creating exquisite guitars for generations! All the tops on Wildwood's Boucher guitars are Master Grade, Old Growth Adirondack Spruce, and were personally selected for us from Boucher's family-owned ancient Adirondack forest! It sounds glorious instrumentally, goes well with your vocals, and accompanies with rhythm and grace! Its Gold Gotoh tuning machines keep your tunes on a "sound" footing, and the bone saddle makes clear your spectrum of sounds. Robin and James Boucher inlaid a beautiful Herringbone design around the top--along with contrasting Maple body binding, and Herringbone around the Rosette, too! This has an extra trim, very low profile neck, and a very comfortable 1 3/4" nut width. Take this home in Boucher's sexy Tweed hard case! The most Premium and rare Madagascar Rosewood was used for the back and sides. Incredible craftsmanship, unbelievable sound and playability!

A proverbial "FEAST" for the eyes, this glorious Walnut/Master-Grade Adi OM responds to every player in kind, regardless of musical stylings.
The Old-Growth, Pre-CITES Brazilian Rosewood on this 00 guitar--personally made by Jean Larrivee himself, using his private, personal stock of precious woods--has the manifestation of being quarter-sawn, with much of the back grain pattern appearing very straight! Combined with the very tight-grained Engelmann Spruce, this 00 Larrivee guitar has a full, rich, and quite powerful voice! The neck join, 12 frets to the body, is married to a 25.5" scale length, providing additional volumes of sound--because of the Standard scale vibrations on a small instrument. Ease and comfort of play are enhanced with the 1 11/16" nut! To draw your eye to this guitar, the exquisite and so very artistic crafting of a colorful, Abalone Pearl-inlaid Unicorn by Wendy Larrivee--Jean's wife--thrills your artistic sensibilities! In addition, the gorgeous Abalone which Jean meticulously inlaid around the top, the fingerboard, and the Rosette stunningly proclaim this guitar as a once and always instrument you will treasure forever! Finally, this instrument is authenticated by the personal signatures, inside the guitar and viewable through the sound hole, of Jean Larrivee, Wendy Larrivee, and Jeff Hickey, Deceased, formerly the U.S./Canada Head of Sales for Larrivee Guitar Company!

We co-designed this wonderful Custom Martin in 1988, with our friend ...the world famous Mike Longworth!! It was such a joy and pleasure to work with someone with his knowledge and experience. The top features the finest Master Grade Sitka Spruce with Hand-Scalloped bracing. This particular set of Brazilian Rosewood "Dalbergia Nigra" had been harvested in the early 1900s, making it over 100 years old today! Stamped in this guitar's neck block is the word "CUSTOM", along with the Serial Number: 478259. This instrument has been gently used, and has a only a few wear marks. It plays beautifully, and is set up for both flat picking and finger stylings. Just as you would expect from an ultimate Martin Brazilian Rosewood Custom, the uproarious thunder clap you feel in your chest after your first strong strum thoroughly transports your soul, while it envelops your heart with lush, rich harmonies! Martin has this guitar registered as a D41 Brazilian Custom. Chris (CF Martin IV) hand-signed the back brace!

"R. Taylor" stands for "Robert Taylor!" Only a handful of these boutique guitars were handmade, and only for a few years! Bob had not been personally building instruments for a while, and he wanted to get his hands involved again in carving and shaping the wood. This is perhaps the most beautiful Taylor we have ever had in, over the past 25 years! Wildwood was selected from over 1200 dealers worldwide to offer these special instruments. No one knows for sure what causes figuring or quilting in Mahogany. Some posit that it is a genetic anomaly; others speculate that the tree grew in a ravine, and--unable to grow straight and tall--adapted to its curved environs. What Jean Larrivee found was that his acquired "Hog" was beautiful to the eye, and seemed to possess more power and warmth than his regular Series. He thinks it is a bit denser, but also more flexible. In this fine guitar he paired this rare Quilted Mahogany with his exceptional Premium Cedar top. What a miracle in music you will experience, in playing this guitar! Until you play this fabulous combination of Premium Cedar and Rare Quilted Genuine Mahogany, you cannot imagine the pure acoustic joy this OM Custom Larrivee will bring!

We wondered why this HD-28 sounded so GOOD! Of course, ALL of them are great acoustically, but most are not equipped with a pickup, like this Retro model. At first, as we played it through an acoustic amp, we were amazed at how great those Pre-war imaged guitars responded through the Fishman F1 pickup! So rich, so strong, so masterful were the glorious, amplified sounds! But then we unplugged, and this finely-crafted guitar continued to surprise and please! A look at Martin's specs revealed the reasons for this excellent acoustic Martin. The 5/16" braces were "forward-shifted', which meant that the trebles and mid-ranges notes were more clear and distinct; while the bass is still prominent, it blends more evenly. And playability was incredible, too; Martin's genius-level builders fashioned their already-comfortable Modified Low Oval neck with the very popular Performance taper--giving a very slim run from the 1 3/4" bone nut to the 14-fret join! Hand-crafted in 1901...Yes, this lady will soon be celebrating her 117th birthday! She is so very playable and has such a dynamic voice. The top is probably Adirondack Spruce, but the old records are not very clear on this. The Brazilian back and sides are Quarter Sawn. With roots going back before the Civil War, Washburn began as a partnership between George Washburn Lyon and Patrick Healy. Formed in Chicago, Illinois, Washburn has been building stringed instruments since 1883. An American institution, Washburn has built guitars, mandolins, banjos, ukuleles, and more throughout the years. Many of the biggest names in music have played old Washburn guitars. Her serial number is 256150 She is called an "1897 Style". I (Marty) have had the pleasure of owning her for the past 30 years, and am now looking for someone very special to be her loving caretaker!

Serial Number #762001--Crafted in the Year 2000, this precious instrument is #219, and was made using extinct Brazilian Rosewood--Dalbergia nigra--(Old-Growth Brazilian, from a long-standing cache held at Martin for several years before this instrument was built!), and the very finest Adirondack Spruce. It has never been owned, has never been offered for sale, or been played by our customers. When this one came to Wildwood, it sounded so much more extraordinary than several D28GE guitars we had sold, that we decided to "put it away." Always a Wildwood resident, always carefully monitored and controlled humidity and temperature, and always kept in its 545 Vintage re-issue Geib case. A cannon of sound, this would receive Chris Martin's "Big Gun" nomenclature. Deep in Peru's dense Amazon Basin, native Iquito residents recovered the Nogal(Walnut) log which became this Custom Larrivee! The nutty "fruit" of this tree provided food and medicinal compounds for the tribe, and the profits for the sale of the wood might have been used to acquire tools or watercraft--river travel is the only way to get to market! This Walnut wood's lush, dark chocolate appearance invites imaginative thoughts about what magical tunes might be created by the lumber's new shape--perhaps it will meet up with other "neighbors" from its forest home--Rosewoods, maybe?

Martin has upgraded the venerable D-18 for the discerning 21st Century player! Beginning with a wonderful, sleek, Modified Low Oval neck shape with the Performing Artist taper makes this guitar play so smooth, you might think it almost can play itself! The width at the nut is 1 3/4 inches; and this gives more room to move around cleanly on the Ebony fingerboard. The tuning machines are Nickel , and open-geared, with Butterbean knobs. The bridge is a 1930"s style "belly" Ebony creation, wth a drop-in saddle. Martin retained the traditional dove-tail neck join, and added the forward-shifted, hand-scalloped top bracing pattern; this has produced that special tone that came from the old original D-18s! This Custom Gibson was hand made by World-Renowned, Master Luthier Ren Ferguson! Ren called us in 1994, during Gibson's Centennial Celebration, and invited us to have him make us some special Gibson acoustic instruments. We asked for two J200 Custom-built guitars, and this J200 Wildwood is one of them. Gorgeous Flamed Maple is not only used for the back and sides; but please take a look at that "tiger-striped" Maple neck!!! The top is tight-grained Engelmann Alpine Spruce, and what an incredible bass comes through its sinewy, flexible wood! We wanted black Ebony for the Gibson Super Jumbo bridge and fingerboard, and the more colorful Abalone pearl for the bridge, pick guard, and fingerboard inlays. And isn't it such a charming, vintage pean to use those gold Grover box tuners with the Ivoroid buttons! The arched case has "Gibson" emblazoned in gold lettering; and the elegant, regal, plush purple lining--together with the rich satin coffin cover--also purple--serve to denote this as a regal instrument, worthy of your love and adoration! Bill Cunningham was one of four renowned makers of Fiddles in Coshocton County, Ohio! The first was Mr. Varnes who was widely known in the early 1900s throughout the Eastern U. S. as a premier maker of hand-crafted instruments. Chester Gray, who apprenticed with the Master Mr. Varnes, built many many wonderful fiddles in his lifetime and also owned the distinction of working with world-renowned violinist David Rubinoff, who had retired in Columbus, Ohio. Next came Clifford Hardesty who was awarded several grants over the years from the Ohio Arts Council, for the purpose of training future generations to make wonderful fiddles. Mr. Cunningham benefited from Cliff's guidance and wisdom as he transitioned from being the Apprentice to being the Master builder.
When you visited Mr. Cunningham's workshop, you could not help but be impressed by his skill. His workshop was modest, and was sparsely equipped with a band saw, a table saw, and a small stove. There were hand tools, and two work benches. Oh, yes, large shards of broken glass were laying there, as well. Bill said, "That's for scraping out the tops (of the fiddles). Broken glass was what I was taught to use for working fine violin soundboards. Even though it takes a long long time- that's what I use!
To witness the magic that seemed to flow from Bill's hands, as he patiently scraped a Spruce soundboard to hollow out the arch in the top, and also work the much harder Maple back, one could only marvel at the glorious sounds this tedious and often physically-painful process ultimately produced in a finished instrument!
Bill, who suffered from emphysema, and fought colon cancer the last years of his life, had wanted to build 100 instruments before he died; he was able to get to #93, over the 20-year period of being disabled. He exhibited that admirable Appalachian trait of being downright unwilling to quit being useful and productive, and each of his fiddles carry that grit and determination to strive for excellence!
Today his fiddles occupy the homes of many happy aficionados of Old Time, Traditional, Bluegrass, and Classical violin music! He was so proud that fine musicians had chosen him and his special talents!

This instrument is Number 16 and was made in 1978 which was one of the finest years of his crafting. He used only the finest curly maple and European spruce for the top. Lester Flatt's solid guitar playing and rich lead voice are unmistakable in hundreds of bluegrass standards. In 1948 Lester started a band with fellow Bill Monroe alumnus Earl Scruggs! Flatt and Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys were one of the most successful bands in Bluegrass. Flatt and Scruggs brought Bluegrass music into mainstream popularity in the early 1960s with their country hit, "The Ballad of Jed Clampett". The name "Bluegrass" stuck, and eventually became the eponym for this entire genre of country music. Flatt and Scruggs recorded over 50 albums and 75 single hit records! In 2003 Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs were ranked No. 24 on CMT's 40 Greatest Men of Country Music, one of only four non-solo artists to make the list (The Eagles, Alabama, and Brooks and Dunn are the others)!
